Socrates x Noguchi Field Guide: Ritual: Fire as Material

Saturday, October 12, 2024
11 am–1 pm
At Socrates Sculpture Park (32-01 Vernon Blvd)
Free with advance registration

Connect with nature through a series of experimental art-making workshops led by Noguchi Educators at nearby Socrates Sculpture Park. These workshops are free and open to all ages. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is highly recommended, with a limited number of walk-up spots available. All participants will be given a free pass to visit The Noguchi Museum after the program.

On Saturday, October 12, join Noguchi Educator Luned Palmer for a workshop to make works on paper with ephemeral materials created by heat and fire. Participants will explore the theme of light and shadow in Isamu Noguchi’s work and create experimental drawings with charcoal residue left behind by a bonfire.

Luned Palmer joined The Noguchi Museum in 2010 as an Educator. She currently facilitates all types of programs for all people at The Noguchi Museum, The Morgan Library, and The Jewish Museum. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two young daughters, busy playing and looking for magic everywhere. Luned holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Swarthmore College and a Master of Science in Museum Education from Bank Street College.
