On second Saturdays in summer 2024, join us for free admission days with special programming to celebrate “love and labor” and solidarity with the AANHPI community. Advance reservations are recommended; visitors without a reservation will also be welcomed based on museum capacity.

Pre-registration required

10–11:30 am: Communal Drawing with Derek Zheng
Join artist Derek Zheng, one of the finalists for the 2024 Open Call for Artist Banners, for a communal drawing workshop that explores the space between representation and abstraction. 

For visitors ages 17 and up. Free; advance registration is required. Program registration includes admission to the Museum.

Drop-in programs

12–5 pm: Gallery Kit
Visitors of all ages are invited to an art-making activity in the galleries.

12–5 pm: Screening of Artist Banner Films (Education Studio)

2–3 pm: Public Tour
An introduction to the life and vision of Isamu Noguchi, exploring highlights of the Museum and the Open Call for Artist Banners project. All tours will meet in Area 1 (the indoor-outdoor gallery).

3–4 pm: Public Tour in Japanese

Derek Zheng, Close-up

Derek Zheng is a filmmaker and illustrator who lives in Queens. His work explores the nature of storytelling through the sequencing of images. Most recently, his film Sorrows premiered at the Efebo d’oro film festival in Palermo.
