Hands-On at Noguchi: Concrete Lamps (Session 1)
Please note special timing for this two-part workshop:
Session 1: May 6, 12–5 pm
Session 2: May 13, 1–5 pm
Before Noguchi created his well-known Akari light sculptures with paper, he made Lunar light sculptures with materials such as magnesite and plaster. During this two-part program, take inspiration from Noguchi’s Lunar light sculptures and then create your own sculptural lamp with concrete. Instructor Luz Fleming and educators from The Noguchi Museum will guide you through the steps of creating a mold, pouring concrete and wiring your lamp.
Previous experience is not necessary. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Ages 18 and older. $20 members, $40 non-members. Program fee includes full admission to the Museum.
