Community Day

Sunday, July 2, 2017 - 11:00am - 6:00pm

The Noguchi Museum celebrates its neighbors by offering this annual series of Community Days on first Sundays through the summer. Admission is free all day, with special programming and activities.

11 am–2 pm: Open Studio | Suminagashi

Open Studio is a drop-in program for families with children between the ages of 2-11 that includes gallery activities and a hands-on art making project. This Open Studio session’s theme is Suminagashi ("floating ink"). Families will begin by walking around The Noguchi Museum investigating natural water patterns in Noguchi's sculptures. Then, families will work in the studio to create their own marbled papers using water and ink.

2 pm: Gallery Tours

Join us for an informal public tour of highlights of the Museum’s collection.

4 pm: Center of Attention

Participate in a conversation on Isamu Noguchi’s Mother and Child (1944–45), as featured in the exhibition Self-Interned, 1942 (on view through January 7, 2018).
