Artists at Noguchi | Bang on a Can Music Series with Martin Bresnick, Argus String Quartet & Friends

Sunday, September 11, 2016 - 3:00pm - 4:00pm

On September 11, the Argus String Quartet & Friends will play a concert featuring the music of Martin Bresnick, in honor of the composer’s 70th birthday. Bresnick’s expressive and direct music has influenced a generation of composers, including many Bang on a Can regulars. The program is fancifully titled "Homeward bound with a lawyer-horse, mice, and a worker who reads," and will include his Going Home, String Quartet #2 (Bucephalus), Josephine the Singer, and Songs of the Mouse People. www.argusquartet.com and www.martinbresnick.com.

"Argus Quartet...played with supreme melodic control and total authority" Calgary Herald

The Argus Quartet is dedicated to reinvigorating the audience-performer relationship through innovative concerts and diverse repertoire – connecting with and building up a community of engaged listeners is at the core of the quartet’s mission. Argus recently began an appointment as the Yale School of Music’s fellowship quartet-in-residence and is the first ensemble to be mentored by the Brentano String Quartet in that capacity.
