Endless Coupling

1957

The attractive challenge of making a sculpture of elements which, piled together, form a sculpture was best met by Brancusi with his Endless Column. My own effort along that line is exemplified in my 1957 Endless Coupling, which I made in Kamakura, Japan. The individual elements were cast in iron in Gifu.
